Getting started
Install
Recern is a desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux. Download it from the download page:
- macOS: a signed and notarized
.dmgfor Apple silicon and Intel. Open it and drag Recern to Applications. - Windows: an installer for Windows 10 and 11 (x64). Until the installer is signed, Windows may warn about an unknown publisher: choose More info, then Run anyway.
- Linux: an AppImage and a
.debpackage for x86_64. Make the AppImage executable withchmod +x, or install the.debwithapt.
Add a connection
- Click + next to Connections in the sidebar, or press ⌘N.
- Choose the engine: PostgreSQL, Recern Vector, or Redis · Valkey · Dragonfly.
- Give the connection a name and an environment, fill in the address, and enter the password if the server needs one.
- Click Test connection to check the settings without saving, then Save.
Recern connects right away and opens the connection's first view. Redis, Valkey and Dragonfly are told apart when you connect, and the sidebar shows each one with its own icon.
The dashboard
Dashboard at the top of the sidebar (⌘1) shows every connection at once: throughput, memory, and the findings that are open on each. Connections are grouped by environment, and production comes first.
Findings across all connections are listed below the cards, critical ones first. Each finding links to the view that explains it.
Next
- Connections explains every connection setting.
- Safe Mode and the console explains what the console can do on production.
